ABOUT ABOUT
An evening of innovative, visceral and provocative interpretations of traditional music from the Balkans, Republic of Georgia, Corsica, and Appalachia. (Æ) is comprised of two young singers based in Brooklyn, Aurelia Lucy Shrenker and Eva Salina Primack. They sing primarily a cappella and also accompany themselves on accordion and panduri (a Georgian stringed instrument).

Their musical selections are unusual and haunting, ranging from Appalachian ballads to the unexpected harmonies of Caucasus Georgian singing to heartfelt Greek, Albanian, and Bulgarian songs, to pieces that combine two traditions in one medley. In their music, the exuberance of youth and the reverence of ancient tradition coincide.

Both Aurelia and Eva have extensive experience and a deep knowledge of the different vocal traditions they sing in. They have performed together in Europe and in New York, California, and points in between. This is their second tour to Colorado. They have chosen the name Ash (the pronunciation of the printer's symbol Æ) because it represents something of a dual nature--not singular, not plural, but exactly two.
